Diarmuid ‘Derm’ Donohoe is a director and writer with twenty years experience in a variety of disciplines, ranging from Videogames, TV animation and live action. He has directed over fifty episodes of animation for clients such as Apple, Disney and Netflix. More recently Diarmuid has directed three live action films which have been selected for many prestigious festivals around the world. He is also the co-founder of a new production company ‘Shining Future’ which will produce independent films with a focus on new talent, storytelling and art.

Diarmuid’s directing style is recognizable for it’s attention to detail, dreamy visuals, seventies style camerawork and transitions, with an emphasis on performances. As a writer, Diarmuid is attracted to dramatic stories with magic realism or genre undertones. 

Some of Diarmuid’s recent work includes the Screen Ireland funded short film ‘Signal’ which was nominated for many awards and picking up ‘best cinematography’ in The Richard Harris Film Festival 2022. His latest film UROBOROS, also funded by Screen Ireland, premiered in the 35th Galway Film Fleadh and begins it’s festival run.

Diarmuid has several projects in various stages of development including a feature film titled ‘Afterbefore‘, a study of human aggression and revenge, set in Ireland, during the last days of a Nuclear fallout.
